Growth Hacking vs. Inbound Marketing

If you're interested in digital marketing, you've probably heard these two terms: "Growth hacking" and "Inbound Marketing," two current trending approaches to digital strategies. But what's the difference? Are they compatible? Complementary? Opposite?

Digital marketers often feel forced to choose between one approach or the other, but this doesn't have to be the case. On the contrary, in many ways, Growth Hacking and Inbound Marketing complement and amplify each other.

A few weeks ago, at the end of one of my Growth Hacking classes, one of my students asked me, very confused, if Growth Hacking and Inbound colombia mobile database could be implemented within a digital strategy at the same time. After our conversation, I realized the widespread confusion that exists between these two concepts, which I will try to clarify here.

The first thing is to clearly define what each thing is:

INBOUND MARKETING:
It's an approach focused on attracting users through relevant, non-intrusive content and interactions. With inbound marketing, potential customers find you through channels such as blogs, social media, or searches.

Inbound marketing is considered a holistic approach used to position a brand, organization, business, or cause as a subject matter expert. These brand positioning strategies aim to create a relationship of trust with users. Focused on this approach, it's understood that the relationship of trust you build with your users as a subject matter expert allows you to gain privileged information about them, enabling you to focus your sales strategies in a much more targeted manner, rather than focusing your efforts on achieving a higher sales conversion rate.

GROWTH HACKING:
It consists of an approach based on experimenting with tactics across different marketing channels and efficiently identifying the product development and validation process to achieve rapid and sustained business growth. Growth Hackers are marketing experts, engineers, and product managers, specialized and focused on acquiring and engaging with the user base, combining traditional marketing actions with analytical and product development skills to achieve rapid business growth.

The Growth Hacking approach encourages you to experiment with tactics based on in-depth data analysis to achieve accelerated user growth and conversions. This approach is very popular with startups due to its low marketing budget.

Are Inbound Marketing and Growth Hacking opposites?
If you've been reading about these two approaches to digital strategy, you've surely come across articles that present these concepts as contradictory. In particular, the great defenders of Inbound Marketing as the only valid approach in digital marketing often criticize the methods of Growth Hackers as unethical, unconcerned about destroying the trust that has been so hard-earned with users. Obviously, this is a very simplistic view of what Growth Hacking represents.

The nature of Growth Hacking is the constant experimentation with tactics to grow a business's followers, traffic, and sales. And it works. Because through trial and error, you find the key that ultimately facilitates conversion.
