Facebook now says that users of the platform often experience engagement bait as spam and that makes for a negative experience when using it. Considering that Facebook has only one goal, to ensure that users are active on the platform for as long as possible and do so satisfactorily, it is not surprising that they want to prevent tagging actions as much as possible.

What exactly does Facebook classify as engagement bait? Let's list it:

Vote baiting : this involves asking people to vote for something with a 'like' or a 'love'.
React baiting : This asks for a specific action, such as liking if you agree whatsapp number list with something.
Share baiting : these are the well-known share actions, in order to win something.
Tag baiting : This asks you to tag friends in a comment on a post.
Comment baiting : Users are asked for a specific response in the comments.

Facebook's Changing Algorithm
It’s certainly not a surprising move, as we’ve seen Facebook adjust their algorithm several times in recent years to make the platform more attractive to users. In June 2016, for example, the company announced that they would update content from friends and family to prioritize content from organizations. In January 2017, Facebook implemented another change that gave authentic content a higher ranking. And in May 2017, an algorithm adjustment resulted in a lower ranking for clickbait content.
