3 Ways to Export Power BI to Excel
In today's class, I want to talk about something that many people wonder: can I export Power BI to Excel?
Although it is not my recommendation, the answer is yes, it is possible to export. However, these exports have some limitations, since Power BI was created so that you can not only process the database, but also perform analyses, calculations and even create dashboards.
If you really want to export Power BI to Excel, I'll show you three different ways to do it: taking the information from the graph in table format, copying the database and doing the analysis using pivot tables.
So, download the material available in the class and let's check out these three ways to export Power BI to Excel.
Export Power BI to Excel
Although it is possible to export Power BI to Excel, even with its limitations, it is not recommended. This is because Power BI offers several features that allow you to perform processing, analysis, calculations and create dashboards automatically.
Therefore, exporting a complete report in Power BI to Excel would not be advantageous. This is because much of the work could not be transferred to Excel, and we would lose some specific functionalities of the tool.
For example, it would not be possible to take the ready-made dashboard and export it to Excel with the same functionalities available within Power BI.
Power Query – Power BI and Excel
Another point that can cause confusion is not fully understanding the functionalities of these tools. Some people know and know how to use Power Query in Power BI , but they have no idea that this same tool is available in Excel .
This situation might lead someone to want to manipulate the data in Power BI with Power Query and then export everything to Excel. However, it is much simpler to access Power Query directly in Excel to perform the data manipulation.
Inside Excel, go to the Data tab , click Get Data , choose From Files and set the source. This way, you can load Power Query into Excel without any hassle.
