Finally, the padlet contained links to a few planned (mandatory and non-mandatory) meetings via Teams. These meetings were used for appointments and instruction. But also to do fun things, such as searching for digital Easter eggs together and dancing together to the latest hits.

Good agreements required
Asynchronous working does require that you make good agreements with each other. This method requires a great deal of independence and also discipline from employees in exchange for the freedom to determine where, when and how you work. GitLab (the world's largest "all-remote organization" with over 1200 employees in more than 65 countries) has made asynchronous working its standard. This can be read in their ' Remote Manifesto '. Seven of the nine parts of this manifesto are relevant starting points for digital (collaborative) working:

Capturing knowledge over verbal explanation
Process recording over on-the-job training
Public information sharing over need-to-know access
Open documents to everyone above top-down control
Asynchronous communication over synchronous communication
Formal communication channels over informal communication channels

Digital working is more than working with digital tools
Digital (collaboration) is also something different than doing your work with the help of digital resources. Jan van Ginkel wrote about this on iBestuur : “Yes, we are certainly becoming more proficient with digital resources at a rapid pace, the rollout of new digital tools in the civil service organization and in political-administrative bodies can now be accomplished in a week instead of via an implementation plan of a year – all fantastic of course -, but that has little to do with digital transformation. What we are now only seeing is that work is being organized somewhat more digitally. The existing work, the existing services, the existing logic.”
