Google's Mobile-First Index Goes Live

Post by shakilhasan15 »

Google's Mobile-First Index Eats Up Desktop
Google has announced that, after a year and a half of testing, mobile-first indexing is now in place , meaning the scanning, collection and classification of web pages is done with preference for the mobile version of the site.

In short: having responsive sites and content optimized and fast loading for smartphones is even more useful for SEO purposes.

So Google will continue to have a single index to australia telegram phone number list search results, but it will be populated by the Mobile version of the pages, which also becomes the reference cache version. This unification of collection and spidering will result in huge savings (in money, energy and environmental resources) for Alphabet Inc.

Interestingly, for sites that have AMP and non-AMP pages, Google will prefer to index the mobile version of the non-AMP page ; this could mean, in my opinion, that the AMP project loses priority for Mountain View.

For SEOs, it’s important to note that mobile-first indexing is about how content is collected, not how it’s classified. As Google itself says , we can think of the index as a library: with this update, the books on the library will remain the same, but the paper versions will be replaced with e-book versions.

All other SEO factors being equal, if your site only has desktop-friendly content and the competition is responsive/mobile, your desktop rankings could hold up while they will drop on mobile; this is mainly due to a question of fast loading, which the web user expects from both desktop and mobile devices. Always remember that, in addition to mobile accessibility, the ranking factors used by Google are more than 200 and therefore the ranking of your site also depends on how the competition is doing on the various positioning parameters.
